All nurses are required to submit a passing score on the TOEFL, TWE, and TSE. For the TOEFL, TWE, and TSE, registered nurses must submit a score of 540 on the written TOEFL, or 207 on the computer based TOEFL, 4.0 on the TWE, and 50 on the TSE.

For more information on TOEFL/TSE please visit www.toefl.org

Recently, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) has been recognized by the CGFNS as an acceptable alternative to TOEFL/TSE for proof of English proficiency.
Its scoring system is such

Candidates receive a score for each module of the test as well as an overall score.

Overall Band Scores and Listening and Reading Band Scores are reported in half bands; Writing and
Speaking Band Scores are reported in whole Bands.

There is no pass or fail mark.
